Troops are now on standby to support the Metropolitan Police if required. They have also request support from the Essex, Herts Sussex & Surry police. All police leave has been cancelled
Consideration is also being given to cancelling the Notting hill carnival.
If the situation deteriotes considerably London may be put under military command with the police supporting the military
