Six Welsh towns and cities have been included in a pilot scheme to develop the UK's first local television services, it has been announced today. Bangor, Cardiff, Carmarthen, Haverfordwest, Mold and Swansea have been included among a list of town and cities across the UK that will be able to bid for local TV licences. The first licences will be open to bidders in the next few months and a consultation has been published today asking the potential towns and cities why they think they should be among the first selected to bid for a local TV licence. It is expected that the initial list of 65 will be narrowed down to about 20 contenders for the first set of licences before the end of the year.
