cash incentives for students to be axed

HANDOUTS worth £10 and £20 a week to encourage students to stay in school or college will be scrapped, it was announced today.

Education Minister Leighton Andrews said the two lowest bands in the means-tested Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) will be phased out, but help will remain for those who need it most.
